Public Events/Festivals
James Carter visits book festivals, music festivals and libraries – as well as museums and arts centres – all over the UK. He is also a regular visitor/workshopper at the Roald Dahl Museum at Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire.
For the last few years, James has been a regular performer at the Sunday Times Oxford Literature Festival as well as the Off The Shelf Festival in Sheffield where he has visited libraries, hospitals, schools and has given INSET sessions to teachers and librarians.
In libraries and at book festivals, James gives three very different public performances for children:
THE BIG BEYOND
Climb aboard cosmonauts -for a totally zany, spacey show that tells the story of how humans made it to the moon and beyond. Expect interactive storytelling, drama, music and poetry - based on James' picture books The Big Beyond and Once Upon A Star. James has taken this show to the Edinburgh Festival, Cheltenham Festival, The Roald Dahl Museum, The Oxford Story Museum and beyond ... it's been cosmic!! Can include a mini writing workshop.

Zim Zam Zoom!
A gentle, fun and interactive session for 0-6 year olds and their parents/carers. Expect soothing music as well as poems, riddles and action rhymes aplenty, full of bugs and bubbles, rockets and pirates, aliens and a whole heap of funny faces - all of which feature in James' collections I'm A Little Alien, Hey, Little Bug! and the CLiPPA shortlisted Zim Zam Zoom! .

The World's Greatest Space Cadet
Ever met a space cadet? James is probably the closest you'll ever get. Come along for a madcap session from the quirkiest and liveliest poet and musician in town. See James perform some wild music as well as a bunch of poems from his collections The World's Greatest Space Cadet, Journey To The Centre Of My Brain, and Greetings, Earthlings! You'll hear poems on a range of topics from woolly mammoths to outer space. Very much a family session, it's perfect for 5-11 year olds. Family writing workshop can be included.
